Welcome to the 23rd annual TUCSON POETRY FESTIVAL

October 6-9, 2005

The year 2005 marks the 23rd year of the Tucson Poetry Festival! Thursday, October 6th, through Sunday, October 9th, the longest running literary arts event of its kind in the Southwest will bring some of America's most important poets and artists to Tucson to celebrate contemporary poetry in an accessible format that includes poetry readings, small group sessions with Guest Poets and Local Painters, an open microphone reading, and a panel discussion on the theme Poetry and Painting.

For the first time, the Tucson Poetry Festival has invited a guest Artistic Director to select the featured poets, adapt the theme to their work and points of view, and plan the program of the festival. For this task, we have selected one of Tucson's finest poets, Charles Alexander.

--Teresa Driver, Executive Director

All Tucson Poetry Festival events will take place at the

Historic YWCA building, 738 N. Fifth Avenue
(corner of Fifth Ave. & University with entrance to the Poetry Festival auditorium on University Ave), unless specifically noted otherwise.
