Public Health Update

April 2020 – All events for Tucson Poetry Festival 2020 will be held online at their originally scheduled dates and times.

9 March 2020 – In light of the announcement that the Tucson Festival of Books has canceled its event this year amid public health concerns, the board of the Tucson Poetry Festival wishes to update our community regarding our current festival planning process.

As of March 8, we intend to proceed with the Tucson Poetry Festival April 18-19, 2020; however, we will continue to monitor public health reports closely. On Wednesday, April 1 we will make a determination based on CDC recommendations whether we can go forward as planned or if we will need to cancel, postpone, or reimagine the festival as a fully online experience. We are also exploring the possibility of making some events accessible to online audiences even as we hope to continue the Festival’s long tradition as a live community gathering.

Given the current low incidence of COVID-19 in Pima County, and the relatively small size and local footprint of the Tucson Poetry Festival, we are cautiously optimistic that the public health crisis will not directly impact our programming in late April. However, should circumstances change between now and the end of March, we will communicate any changes on our website and via all of our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
